This black universal fit control knob is made for ovens, cookers and hobs, and is supplied with five adapters covering the common spindle profiles used across UK domestic appliances. It measures 6.1cm by 4.3cm by 1.1cm.
Control knobs fail in two ways. The boss splits so the knob no longer grips the spindle and turns freely without changing anything, or the knob cracks through and comes away in your hand. Either way the control becomes unusable and setting a temperature turns into guesswork, which matters more on an oven than on almost any other appliance in the kitchen.
